    I think the issue with the first pose came from the reference photo clearly being taken with a wide angle lens, which distorts the perspective. It looked to me like your student was trying to fit the character 's feet into the dimensions they saw in the reference photo, but the focal length they were looking at the character with isn't the same as the one in the photo, so things weren't going to line up.

    I assume you got this rig from agora correct? How do you have manual finger controllers to your rig? Im not sure if i am missing anything to my rig because i don't have that feature.

      It's there. You have to click on the controller above his hand and then turn on the visibility. Everything is set as 0 which is why you can't see it. Click on it and then change the value from 0 to 1 for thumb vis, index vis, middle vis etc. Happy animating!

    nice video thank you! i think rule of thumb is game animation, make it work for 360 view. cinematic, just make it look good for that shot. every big studio does this! no point fixing the feet and legs if you doing a tight acting shot on the face etc, of course ONLY if the camera angle is determined and not gonna change.

    I think another reason for the stagnation is due to the cost of development. Those studios need investors, investors are generally scared of anything new (or as they put it "untried") so the safe investment is a rehash of what's been done and proven to be successful before. The same applies to Hollywood films. I've been in Asia for 15 years, a bit North of where you are, and can see not only how things have been shifting to here, but how quickly skills have progressed, and have been merged with a creativity that the ones holding the reins in The West are afraid of. I've done so many voices for mobile games from China, but now recently we've begun seeing animated films and series from there, animated series from Indonesia, great animation done in Malaysia for other markets, plus big game studios well-known in The West and making product for that market, coming here to get the work done. There are government incentives for tech companies to set themselves up or open branches here, with infrastructure that outcompetes a lot of western countries. I also think another factor that's going to play into this is there is currently a huge number of young Burmese people fleeing Myanmar. Over the years I have met many Burmese coders working at different tech companies. It seems to have been a very popular major in Myanmar, so all these coders are seeking new homes and new jobs and they can't really afford to travel too far, so there will be a glut of new, young coders desperate to work. It's a good time to be in ASEAN, but I don't need to tell you that, right lah?

    The mold of what makes a good game has never changed, Black Myth Wukong just proved it. It’s just that western studios & compagnies have used the same rinse and repeat formula. And then put millions of dollars into marketing to make the game look better than it is. When in reality they’ve been making the same game for the past 15 years. The video game market is about to change for good. Spot on Alessandro as always.

    Western studios saw the huge amount of players that Black Myth: Wukong brought in, a new unexploited market, that will surely make them reconsider the kind of games they are going to develop in the future, if they want to have a piece of this market. Taking the success of a particular Japanese studio in the 90s, Squaresoft, we have to consider that with Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX, they invested quite a lot of money in the development, and had at their disposal many talented western 2D/3D graphics experts, which were employed at their newly opened offices in the US. Japanese studios failed when they started to cater to the American market, which at the time was solely composed of First and Third Person Shooters, not understanding that people played their game because they were different (and definitely more polished and better designed, I must say), so they played the catch up game and they lost their soul. I really don't see the appeal on playing "that western studio" games, from what I see they make formulaic games with very low player agency; you play the game as they intended or you fail the mission/objective.

    Well China is historically known for having lower labor wages. So it makes sense that a AAA game will cost less than in the west. Also in the west there are the DEI consultants that also get paid a lot to just give their opinions if they are offended or not.

      @@user-wv8vy3qi8p well yeah in the end it's cheaper for a studio in China to employ ...let's say 100 developers than it is for a western studio. Also I'm not sure but I assume the cost of living in China is lower than the west, thus even if the payment is lower, the developer or artist would be happy. As you said, their payment is considered high for the chinese standards. Which is nice...people should be paid justly for their expertise. As for aestetics....I do have my criticism of asian aestetics, but I agree China,Korea and Japan don't need to appeal to these woke beurocrats that don't care about games or movies.

    You can clearly see the rise in the quality of eastern asia games. We're definitely going to see some heavy competition in the gaming industry and with how western game developers are making games, this competition doesn't look good for these devs.

    Really Helpful. Thanks for sharing.🙂❤🙏 I have a doubt. Not about the Arcs. But about the use of FK for the hands in this animation. Did you use FK for both hands for the entire shot. If yes, then how to make the left hand hold on the ground, while the character twist the body? 11:29 Hope I made it clear.
